Logo concepts

A working set of ten directions for the Vishwanath Grid mark. Six are abstract-geometric (concepts 1–6); four draw directly on the legacy of Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad — the founder of MIT-WPU, the World Peace Dome, and the educational philosophy that union of science and spirituality is what brings peace (concepts 7–10).

Pick one and the favicon, social cards, and partner-document templates will be built from it. Each concept ships in three formats — SVG (source), PNG (web + print), and JPEG (print and legacy templates) — plus a sample A4 letterhead.

The brand palette stays the same across all concepts: deep navy background #0a0e1a, slate dark text #0f172a, accent blue #4d9fff, single gold spark #f5b54b.

How to pick

Look at three things, in this order:

  1. Does the mark survive at favicon size (32 px)? That is the smallest size the mark ever needs to read at — browser tab, bookmark bar, mobile home screen.
  2. Does it sit well next to MIT-WPU's logo on a partner document? Compare the lockup row on white to the partner row on the About page.
  3. Does it still look right on an A4 letterhead? The full-page mockups are at the bottom of this page.

Concepts

1 — VG monogram

A bold V and G locked together. Geometric, modern, no nostalgia. Reads instantly at favicon size.

2 — Hex cluster

Seven hexagons. Center cell gold (the coordinating institution), six surrounding cells blue (partner sites). Strong federation metaphor, very technical feel.

3 — Constellation

Seven nodes connected by thin lines. The brightest (gold) is the hub. Suggests "geographically distributed sites" without being a literal map.

4 — Domed crest

Heraldic, institutional. A dome silhouette inside a gold ring. Sits well next to university crests on funding documents.

5 — Wordmark only

No icon. The name is the logo, set in a heavy modern sans with a thin gold rule under "GRID". The Stripe / Linear approach — works best when paired with strong typography on the rest of the site.

6 — Chakra wheel

Eight spokes, eight node tips, a gold hub. Echoes the Ashoka Chakra without quoting it. Reads as both "research network" and "Indian project".

Concepts inspired by Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad

These four draw on Dr. Karad's life-work — the World Peace Dome at MIT-WPU, the lamp of knowledge, the lotus of learning, and the Sanskrit name Vishwanath itself ("Lord of the Universe", and the literal high peak). Each is built so a partner site can place it next to the MIT-WPU institutional crest without dissonance.

7 — World Peace Dome

A direct reference to Dr. Karad's signature legacy. Hemispherical dome on a stepped pediment, gold rays from the apex, a faint compute grid below — heritage symbol resting on the cluster's foundation.

8 — Diya (lamp of knowledge)

The diya — the small earthen oil lamp that opens every Indian academic ceremony — is the most concise symbol for knowledge illumination. Flame above; a row of nodes inside the vessel ties the symbol to the federation.

9 — Lotus federation

Saraswati's lotus — symbol of learning — drawn as an eight-petal network. Each petal ends in a node, the centre is a gold pistil. A single mark that reads as both "Indian knowledge symbol" and "federated cluster".

10 — Vishwanath peak

Vishwanath means "Lord of the Universe" — and a peak. A sharp triangular summit with a gold node at the top, framed by a soft square; horizontal compute lines below ground the symbol in the cluster's purpose.

Once you've picked one

Reply with the concept number. The remaining work is mechanical:

  • Set the picked mark as assets/images/logo.svg and rebuild.
  • Generate a multi-resolution favicon.ico (16, 32, 48 px) and an Apple touch icon.
  • Bake the lockup into the partner-deck slide master and email signature template.
  • Regenerate the social-card preview (og:image) with the chosen mark on the brand navy.

If you want a tweak first — different proportion, gold replaced with a different accent, the chakra spokes thinner, etc. — just say so.
